ABOUT
About the designer, Kelly Elliott.
Graphic Designer and photographer. Illustrator and Copywriter. Lover of all things bright, bold and creative. My love for design began at an early age from the encouragement of my open minded parents who allowed me every marker imaginable, to paint even though the mess was horrendous and lent a hand anytime I decided my room need a new color palette. Countless hours and thousands of dollars were spent on purchasing scrapbooking supplies and rubber stamps which yes, in turn really did equate to a real profession for me. I much preferred hands on design until realizing that graphic design really was for me. I was accepted into the graphic design program at College of Design at Iowa State University in 2006 which turned out to be the beginning of getting me to where I am today. A semester in Rome, Italy is where I really learned how to live out loud through my work. Turning my focus from corporate clients to boutique design has allowed me to work with countless clients across the country but also given me the opportunity create my own brand, Francine and Georgia.
Francine and Georgia grew out of a few different reasons. One, because it’s always been my goal to have my own retail brand and get to design for myself while making a living doing so (okay, that makes it sound like a piece of white cake with white frosting. Not always the case but still a hella good gig even on days when it’s not a cake walk). Secondly, my design and personal goals really aligned as I watched both my of grandma’s, Francine and Georgia, battle terrible cancers which ultimately stole them from me. My grams where my jams. My grandma Georgia was the grandma everyone dreams for. The sweet one, your best friend, our families glue and queen of Sunday night feasts. The kind everyone knew for her kindness and to die for cooking. Then I was blessed with my grandma Francine. Feisty, strong as an ox and wasn’t afraid to use her sharp tongue. You knew not to mess with her. As I grew older I grew to appreciate her more and more. I see so much of myself in her now and miss her feisty as much as my other grandma’s sweet. As I was doodling possible boutique names one evening I paired these two together. It stuck immediately and has helped encourage me to live the happy, big life I’ve always dreamed of thanks in a large part to both of them. You’ll find a lot of snark, a lot of feisty, a few sharp tongued words and laughs in my work but you’ll also find that it’s all designed from a deep place in my heart with nothing but sweet love and kindness.
All designs are created, sold and packaged with great love from a small team in small town Nevada, Iowa USA.
